Rachel Skinner has been designing and handcrafting hats and headpieces of exceptional quality and timeless modern luxury since 1993. Rooted in traditional millinery techniques and defined by meticulous attention to detail, Rachel Skinner Millinery embodies a distinctly British elegance that is both refined and contemporary. Her clientele spans from members of the Royal Family to iconic cultural figures, including The Rolling Stones.

Rachel discovered her passion for millinery at the London College of Fashion before completing an apprenticeship with Frederick Fox, milliner to Queen Elizabeth II. She later refined her craft working with the renowned Stephen Jones, further shaping her signature aesthetic of modern sophistication grounded in heritage technique.

In the mid-1990s, Rachel opened her first boutique in London’s leafy Primrose Hill, at the heart ofthe Cool Britannia era. Her distinctive designs quickly attracted an international and celebrity following, including Kate Moss, Mick Jagger, Paul Weller, Gwen Stefani, Rachel Weisz, and Elle Macpherson.

Between 1995 and 2005, Rachel Skinner Millinery expanded into ready-to-wear collections stockedby leading luxury retailers including Harrods, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Fenwick, Fortnum &Maso,n and The National Gallery in London, as well as high-end US department stores BergdorfGoodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Barneys New York, alongside select boutiquesacross Japan, Asia, and Europe.

In 2013, after taking time to raise her family, Rachel relocated to the historic county town of Lewesin East Sussex and co-founded Lomax & Skinner, focusing on bespoke millinery for prestigious social occasions and theatrical productions, including Andrew Lloyd Webber’s stage production of Cinderella.

May 2024, Rachel opened the doors to her latest retail boutique and atelier, reviving the eponymous Rachel Skinner Millinery in Lewes. Here, clients discover Rachel’s signature vibrant, feminine, ready-to-wear seasonal and resort collections, alongside private appointments for bespoke andcouture commissions — each piece handcrafted with the precision, artistry, and enduring elegance that define the brand.
